Caring for your solid wood furniture

About your Solid Wood Furniture

Every piece of furniture will come with it’s own distinct character – in the form of whirls and swirls, small splits and cracks. These are characteristic of Rustic Furniture and make your piece unique.

Wood, being a natural material, will shift and move slightly. This slight movement is to be expected due to the natural moisture content in wood. However, by following the below care guidelines you can ensure your furniture stays at it’s best.

Caring for your Solid Wood Furniture

  • Consider when placing your piece of furniture, not to have it in the direct vicinity of a heat source.

  • When cleaning, limit the use of chemical cleaners as this will cause the finish to fade,

  • Direct Sunlight can, over time, cause the finish to fade.

  • Wood will not benefit from a continually damp environment.

  • Wood is porous, therefore we recommend a 6-12 month reapplication of wax if required to keep your piece looking fresh and well cared for.

  • Use of coasters and placemats are recommended with dining tables

Kindest Regards Ben and Esther at New Forest Countryside
